CPD - Continuing Professional Development

A Zoom workshop for therapists working with Body Psychotherapy

This advanced training is intended for therapists from various fields of psychotherapy, who are seeking further professional and personal development and would like to acquire new tools and a broader view of significant therapeutic processes in the therapy room.

"This is the first time in my life I've ever told this to anyone". How many times have you heard this sentence from patients? From friends? And how many times have you said this sentence yourself, perhaps? We all have little or big secrets which we keep to ourselves. Each of us has things that are difficult to say out loud, or to share, and they are retained in the stomach, in the heart, and in the body.

As therapists, we’re frequently surprised at how people keep things to themselves in relationships. And sometimes a secret isn’t just something connected to the present time and a current relationship, but part of a narrative of family secrets passed-on through generations.

Whether it is a little or big secret, a personal or family secret, keeping a secret, retaining an old trauma, an early secret or an embarrassing incident - has profound effects not only on our relationships, but also on our body structure and breathing. Keeping secrets from early childhood affects the development of personality structure and has a real impact.

In the workshop for therapists on Secrets - in Life and in the Therapy Room, we’ll engage with the subject of secrets and keeping them.We will learn about secrets in life and the therapy room and how they impact on every part of us.

In the workshop we’ll learn:

How does secrecy affect body structure, breathing, and the emotional-physical system?

What generates a secret and what causes things that remain unspoken within a relationship?

How do you work with a narrative of secrets in the family, and the intergenerational passing-on of secrets?

How can we contain and create a safe place in the clinic to allow release at all levels for patients?

During the workshop we will learn and experience body psychotherapy work on secrets in  discourse, body work, guided imagery, and breathing.

We’ll also practice working in pairs, divided into Zoom rooms, and experience and observe the physical effect that secrets have on the body and mind. We will understand in depth the effect of secrets on the mind and soul, the qualities and disadvantages of keeping secrets in the couple and family space.
