Boundaries of Love

Click to join the workshop

This advanced training is intended for therapists working in various fields of psychotherapy who are interested in further professional and personal development, and would like to acquire additional tools and a broad view of significant therapeutic processes, in the therapy room.

As we know and experience in the therapy room, the question of boundaries in life has affected and is affecting us at every level: the boundaries of body and breath are shaped by the story of our lives. Our psyche and our personality structure are also shaped by the nature of the boundaries we received in childhood - rigid boundaries, lack of boundaries, flexible boundaries, extreme boundaries, and others.

In the workshop we’ll learn and experience:

How to work with the question of boundaries in individual and couple therapy. We will learn ways to understand and internalize the issue of boundaries with clients, in a range of topics:

  • Observation and awareness of boundaries. Maintaining boundaries, respecting boundaries.
  • Boundaries as a resource of security and trust during therapy.
  • The boundaries of our body and breathing - as therapists and for our clients.
  • How Facebook, emails, smartphones, and media enter the therapy room.
  • Therapeutic work with ‘borderline personality’ people.
  • Leaving the clinic setting?... therapy in nature, walking, running and more.
  • Reconstructing boundary-breaking events – is this an option? how, and when?
  • Money, sexuality, and the connection to boundaries. Boundary-breaking traumas.
  • Boundaries in a relationship and in the family, and their impact on the relationship.
  • Gifts from clients, to clients? ... Weddings, events – should we participate?

In an encounter with therapists from many different countries, we’ll work and practice in pairs and small groups, focusing on the ‘boundaries of love’ by applying humanistic body psychotherapy which allows us to be in therapy with clear, flexible, regulated, and loving boundaries. This will enable our clients and ourselves to delve deeper into understanding this significant theme in their life-story, highlighting how the boundaries in the therapy room help structure and develop a healthy, regulated and balanced place for clients’ boundaries in their lives.
